Meanwhile Palermo is trying to adapt and extend the Brazilian’s contract until 2012 with an engagement fee of 1.4 million euros per season. Only a few details are needed before he signs.

President Maurizio Zamparini told the Giornale di Sicilia: "The foundations are laid, Amauri’s managers have said yes and the player is happy with our proposal".

The agreement does not preclude the possibility of Amauri’s transfer in June, but gives Palermo greater bargaining power. "In January, the Brazilian will not move - concluded Zamparini - in June we will see. I understand that the fans could feel bad, but they must understand  everyone’s position. If Amauri gets a proposal from a great team, it will be impossible keep him" .
